Avahi mDNS; Chromecast in multi subnet works... half

pe flag

Ok, i'm busy for days now to get it to work. The goal is to have my Chromecast available on different subnets/vlans in my network. There where Avahi reflector comes in.

I set up an Avahi reflector using one of the many tutorials which can be found on the internet. So I have an Intel NUC running the thing, and have two VLANs configured on the NUC: Vlan (0) native vlan 192.168.3.0/24 and Vlan 4 192.168.4.0/24. They are connected to a Cisco RV345 with the corresponding Vlans configured. I can't get it working for days using wifi, so in the end to eliminate issues on any other devices, I ended up wiring the Chromecast AND an android phone to the switch using usb-to-lan extenders. If I wire the phone and the chromecast in one vlan, everything works perfect, as expected. If I wire the phone in the native Vlan and the chromecast in vlan 4, the Home app can see the chromecast, however, when using any app (like youtube, netflix) who could cast to the chromecast, can't find the device at all. I tried too with an android tablet, same result.

Anyone else seen this phenomenon?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
