How can I understand why an app is draining computer resources?

in flag

I’ve being using a VirtualBox Ubuntu 18.04 VM on a a MacBook Pro (MacOS Big Sur - 11.4) without any perfomance problem.

Lately I’ve installed an application (Rabix composer), which gave me no problem at the beginning but now, as soon as I launch it, the cpu fan starts to spin faster, the app gets slow, eventually freezes and sometimes blocks the entire VM.

This odd behaviour did not start immediately but becomes worst time by time.

My colleague works on a clone of my VM and he does not have this “hang” issues.

Could you suggest me some unix terminal tools to understand how and why my VM resources draining happen?

My VM has 8GB of RAM and uses 4 CPUs. The host machine has 16GB RAM and 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. I’m using VirtualBox 6.1.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
