21.04 Black screen after suspend Nvidia + Intel integraded GPU

cn flag

My set-up is a bit unusual. I have a i5-10600k. I use the integrated GPU for display as my GPU is a Nvidia K80 (no display, only for computing).

Before installing the Nvidia drivers, suspend works.

I tried various things found on stackoverflow (e.g. blacklist nouveau driver). I really lost count of what was done as I've been through 20+ install of Ubuntu trying to fix that and other issues that arose attempting to fix it. I did try all version of nvidia drivers (390, 450, 460, 465 && server version), to no avail. I tried kernel 5.12 & 5.13 but the nvidia drivers then stop working completely (I need CUDA for pyTorch).

My main issue is that I really can't track what's going on. I'm new to Ubuntu/Linux so I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem (log review) and the process is frustrating as I usually end up messing my install. This cause new errors which might be a result of me messing around.

I decided to settle for Nvidia driver version 460 with Python3.9 fully updated to work with pyTorch. I reached a workable point where I can use the system for my needs but no suspend is kinda a PITA.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
