Ubuntu Server Keyboard Map Correct but Wrong?

cn flag

I've installed Ubuntu Server 20.04.2 on a Bhyve VM inside of TrueNas, connecting via VNC.

I am struggling with the keyboard input though and because it's Server, there's no GNOME UI to adjust things easily.

I know the Keyboard inside Bhyve works as I've also got a Win10 VM setup and the keyboard input is perfect so it can only be a Ubuntu issue.

For example,

if I type | I get ~

if I type " I get @

if I type £ I get nothing at all

Region is set to en_GB.utf8

running sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration and going through the motions setting 101 key, UK, UK still results in the same.

Any other ideas?

Try gb (Great Britain) instead of uk (Ukraine).

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
