Detect cause for random boot and shutdown issues

Tom

I have some random issues related to booting and shutting down Ubuntu 18.04.

  • Shut down freezes

  • Shut down takes up to 30 minutes

  • Booting works but freezes after password entering Booting freezes at the pure purple screen

  • Booting works but drive is in read only mode

Maybe related: I had an error a few days ago where I needed to set fsck manually on boot that I fixed with (initramfs) fsck /dev/sda2

What tool should I use to detect and fix those issues?

I don't know where to start on how to fix those issues - any recommendations are very welcome.

I would start with syslog and smart logs.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
