Strange colored static after upgrading monitor

br flag

I recently upgraded to an ultrawide monitor (LG 34GN850) and am experiencing some weird and very annoying behavior. Scrolling in various windows causes this strange colored static to appear and grow the more I scroll until the entire screen goes black. The static seems to change as I move my mouse around and doesn't go away until I scroll the other direction or change to a new window.

It doesn't seem specific to any one program though. I've seen the behavior with chrome, vscode, and ubuntu settings windows so far, I'm sure it will appear in others as well. The screen is connected via display port over a USB C dock that I've successfully attached other monitors to in the past with no issues.

I've tried changing the nvidia settings to various options as well as upgrading to the latest drivers (nvidia-driver-470). If there's any other information I can provide let me know, I've attached an image below. I had to take photo with my phone as it doesn't appear when I take a screenshot. picture of the weird behavior

Thanks in advance!

If your system has another GPU like Intel Graphics can you try switching to it? This looks like a driver problem. What is the current (native) screen resolution of your new monitor?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
