Syslinux 6.04 (Error ldlinux.c32 Failed to load)

pn flag

Before I get into specifics, I have for specs

Ryzen 7 4800H (CPU)

16bg 3200mhz RAM (SODIMM)

Radeon RX 5600M (GPU)

Samsung 960 Evo 250GB

I have an MSI Alpha 17 A4DEK-011.

For some reason, whenever I boot into the USB drive, I get;

SYSLINUX 6.04 EDD 2014-10-06 Copyright (C) 1994-2014 H. Peter Anvin et al

Failed to load ldlinux.c32
Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue.

I am using Rufus 3.15 BETA and for the image its Ubuntu 20.04.2.0. LTS

Partition scheme is MBR like listed in the usb creation tool help guide on https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview

Anyone have any tips? I am a rookie to linux and would love some help.

Try cloning: DD-mode in Rufus or some other cloning tool, for example Win32DiskImager or Balena Etcher. Cloning is a very reliable process and will usually succeed, if the iso file was downloaded correctly. (Check the iso file with md5sum or sha256sum.)

@sudodus How would you check the ISO? I also downloaded the image directly off of Ubuntu's website

See [this link](https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes) and links from it.

Also, you can try creating a GPT disk for UEFI (Non CSM) in Rufus. This will force Ubuntu to be booted in EFI mode, using GRUB as the bootloader.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
