How can I fix IO lagging after installation of RAID controller card?

us flag

Several months ago I have installed a hardware RAID controller card in my workstation. Since then I frequently experience annoying lags of my keyboard, something keystrokes are missing and something they are in wrong order (as if they were delivered by threads running in parallel). I have also noticed that my mouse and GUI misbehaves (Firefox, PyCharm) and that it sometimes takes a noticeable time (several seconds) to sync between PyCharm window and the edited file.

I have no idea neither how can I fix the problem nor how to diagnose it properly. It is definitely not a swapping issue, as it occurs when I still have a plenty of free physical memory.

In the output sudo iotop -oPa running for some time I cannot see any process exceeding 1% of IO (here the heading lines for brevity):

Total DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Total DISK WRITE: 0.00 B/s
Current DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Current DISK WRITE: 0.00 B/s
PID PRIO USER DISK READ DISK WRITE SWAPIN IO> COMMAND
    404 be/3 root 0.00 B 1352.00 K 0.00 % 0.36 % [jbd2/sda2-8]

   6002 be/4 root 0.00 B 0.00 B 0.00 % 0.05 % [dmcrypt_write/2]

I think the relevant part of lspci -vv output is:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
