White screen of death upon finalization of loading

cn flag

Yesterday I took the plunge and attempted to load Ubuntu 21.04 onto an old 2008 Macbook. I used a USB drive to load from and everything we going great. At the end, the prompt as me to remove the USB and to press enter for the computer to restart. When it started back up I was greeted with a white screen of death and nothing else on the screen. I tried using all the old "Mac" restart button but nothing work. While the computer is powered on, I can hear it trying to reload about every 5 min. Please help.

Any current Ubuntu release is too much for any laptop from 2008, Apple or any other.

OK cool. Good to know now. Any suggestions as to what to do about it or did I brick my old mac book and now I should turn it into a zen garden with sand and rocks?

Try Lubuntu or Xubuntu, both have a much lighter desktop environment.

I guess what I'm asking is what should I do with a non responsive laptop. Do you have a link or a resource I can use to remove the white screen of death and try to load another OS?

You may *try Lubuntu or Xubuntu* that are **installed in the same exact way the standard Ubuntu you just installed**.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
