Up-to-date solution for home encryption in (X)ubuntu 20.04

es flag

For a desktop computer located at work, full-disk encryption is not a relevant option, because:

  • when I am away, the computer is most of the time ON, for remote SSH access ;
  • there are multiple users ;
  • in case of a power outage, I would like to ask a colleague to turn it on, without the need to communicate passwords.

However, what is the recommended tool nowadays? ecryptfs or fscrypt? (steps are detailed in the links)

I wish to use ecryptfs because it seems easier, but it was described as outdated/buggy, and actually removed from the installer. Is fscrypt the recommended way? Why? All I need is automatic decrypting upon login (with GUI or SSH).

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
