How to change from using HDMI output to Displayport output?

cn flag

i am using an ubuntu computer with the following specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Linux ubuntu desktop 20.04 PH-GTX1050-2G Kernel 5.13.2 generic A working HDMI 2.0 cable A working DP 1.4 cable A working monitor with working DP and HDMI port

I am using PH-GTX1050-2G's HDMI port to output to my monitor, but i want to switch it over to use 1050's Displayport output.

The step for i change to DP :

  1. unplug the HDMI cable and plug the DP cable when the computer is off
  2. turn on the ubuntu just like normal

But, no signal is received by my monitor.

I did google for some solution,

  • reinstall my nvidia drive
  • switch nvidia driver to older

But these solution does not work for me.

More info about cable testing:

  • HDMI plugged works
  • HDMI + DP plugged, not work
  • DP plugged, not work

More test but not work:

  • view xrandr, but the xrandr only shows about HDMI, even tho DP and DVI cables are plugged
  • check ubuntu display in settings, start up computer with HDMI then plug DP, but, cannot detect DP, only thing showing is still, HDMI

What should i do? Please help

It appears you're not using a Ubuntu kernel, so your answer may be better looked at from the view of wherever you got your kernel from. Ubuntu *drivers* cannot really help you when you're not using Ubuntu's kernel.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
