Ubnutu installed on my 500gb disk

ar flag

So I have recently decided to move to Linux cause I couldn't handle windows anymore. I like the change and learning process with the new system.

The issue is that my ubnutu is installed on my 500gb disk, and the other disk is empty. I was wondering how can I change its installation dictionary from that disk to the other. Because it limits me from creating folders and downloading applications into there.

Some move /home. To move /home uses rsync- Be sure to use parameters to preserve ownership & permissions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Partitioning/Home/Moving Others create /mnt/data partition(s) and move data from /home into their data partition. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1013677/storing-data-on-second-hdd-mounting & https://askubuntu.com/questions/1058756/installing-all-applications-on-a-ssd-disk-and-putting-all-files-on-hdd-disk

Why can you not create folders on the second disk? Also apps do not usually get installed into your home dir.

0 I'll be looking into those links and do more research in them. The question is if its possible to make it like on Windows, 1 disk for exampe with 50gb for Ubnutu only and the other free 450gb for music, coding, photoshop etc?

What you show in that screenshot isn't "another disk". "Computer" in this context is the top level of the tree that represents the whole storage available regardless of the amount of physical drives, assuming that when more than one they all have recognizable partitions that are mounted somewhere, typically under /media or /mnt. If you have only one 500GB physical drive and chose the "erase and install..." option then the whole drive is being used and the available space is both for the root file system and users.

Coming from Windows it's understandable that you confuse drives, partitions, etc. To get a clearer picture of all the available storage you can open Disks. In the left column you'll find all your **physical drives**. Click one and you'll see its **partitions**. Again, if only one you'll likely see the ESP - a small FAT32 partition - and / (root) which includes /home (where all users have their personal folders and settings).

You can partition the drive during installation. It may be easier to reinstall (partition it using liveUSB and then install) than transferring your existing installation. See this webpage, which explains how to create partitions with gparted https://linuxhint.com/partition_hard_disks_debian_ubuntu_resizing/

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
