logitech m510 mouse highlights all just passing moving over screen

I have had the Logitech MX Keys keyboard for about a year. I just added the M510 mouse. Both have the "unifying receiver", but for now at least I can't get them both on a single dongle. There is very little Ubuntu support at Logitech. The Logitech 'options' software to control and configure the mouse and all its buttons is not available for Linux.

I'm writing now because suddenly, every time the mouse passes over text in my IDE, (PyCharm) it starts highlighting. Obviously, this is a recipe for disaster with my code if I am not very very careful. Exasperated, I took out the receiver for the mouse (left the one for the keyboard in) and went back to my old mouse - and the behavior is still there!

I looked at xinput enter image description here

but I'm not really familiar with it. If anyone sees anything suspicious here, let me know! The mouse options in Ubuntu settings are very limited and don't seem to address this issue.

Both the old mouse and the new one now seem to work the same: normally here on the web, except right clicking in the address bar does not bring up the right click menu. That menu does come up in the body of a web page. In PyCharm, both mice highlight anything they pass over, but even when highlighted, the right click menu does not open. However, it did copy an entire file I had open, pasting it into a new blank file I opened for other purposes.

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thanks.

You can install `Solaar` to configure Logitech keyboard/mice in Ubuntu.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
