Strange Graphical Issues with 20.04.2.0 Live USB

cn flag

I'm a windows noob looking to try linux so be kind.

I created a 20.04.2.0 64 bit USB and booted from it and selected "try Ubuntu".

First, it wasn't recognizing either of my display port monitors. Just a black screen with "no signal".

On a whim I decided to try plugging in my TV via HDMI and voila I have video. Only problem now is that every 3-5 seconds the screen goes black for roughly 5 seconds, all that is visible is the mouse cursor, however it's frozen and unable to be moved.

Other than the black screen issues the OS seemed to be running fine.

At this point I decided to do some research but that only lead me to seeing issues related to having a black screen after grub etc.

After hitting a dead end there I'm back to windows for tonight, as attempting an install under these dodgy conditions didn't seem ideal.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I did, as far as I can tell it's a clean and full download.

Try the safe graphics mode or `nomodeset`.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
