Dicover crashes every time on Kubuntu

jp flag
Zed

I am using Kubuntu. Every time I open up Discover, it crashes right away. Rebooting doesn't work. The only situation it doesn't crash is when I disconnect my computer from internet. It works perfectly fine without internet.

Please help if you know the solution. Let me know what other information you need to diagnose the problem.

Is your system up-to-date? Please edit your question with the output of `sudo apt update` and `sudo apt upgrade`

Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS. I tried `sudo apt update` and `sudo apt upgrade`. It didn't work.

What do you mean *it didn't work*? You need to be more specific. Please post the full unredacted outputs of each command in the body of your question.

Okay. I have edited the description. You can check it out.

There's a lot of problems with your package management system. The skype repo that you added is showing errors that it is invalid. The huge list of packages pending for autoremove is also a red flag. Can you provide more context about what you've been up to when installing/maintaining software? What software have you added, changed, or removed since you last were able to perform updates successfully without errors -- and what exactly did you do?

I was just learning to use the system. Some basic stuff. Pretty much searching for guides online about how to install something, stc. The skype repo was probably added during that period of time. I didn't touch the "deep" stuff. What would you recommend me to do?

Sounds like a firewall or server issue to me. The firewall is ufw. Try reading `man ufw`. You can also `tail -f /var/log/ufw.log` in terminal when you open /reproduce issue to see if it creates a new entry. If yes, then it is being blocked. Does this sound sensible to you @Nmath?

I think the problem is caused by installing KDE Plasma on Ubuntu

Problem solved. This problem might be a bug in 18.04 LTS. The system doesn't have native support for my laptop's wireless adapter. I upgraded the system to 21.04. It works like a charm

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
