Wifi used to work flawlessly but suddenly does not anymore. I shut down my laptop and after one week I booted it and the problem occurred. I have not done any changes in my network or updated any software.
Available wifi connections are shown. I can also connect to my wifi. On my phone the same wifi works. I also plugged in a wlan cable and it can also connects. Just websites won't load. That is, after around 30 seconds of loading [the following appears][1]. I have tried it with multiple browsers (firefox, chromium, chrome).
ping localhost
works - packets are transmitted an received. Same goes for pinging the router ip.
ping -c 4 google.com
returns Temporary failure in name resolution
.
I then temporarily changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
but this also did not resolve the problem.
Not sure if related to my issue but instead of the usual wifi icon being shown in the top a "network" icon is shown as illustrated here:
[Screenshot of the icon][2]
On a final note, etc/resolv.conf
shows as nameserver 127.0.0.53
.
Using ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
EDIT:
In the meantime I followed these steps but also no success
