Which NVidia driver did you install? The one that is in the Ubuntu 20.04 repository or the one from the Nvidia [download](https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx) site? I don't know how new is the RTX 2060, but you might want to try the official NVidia driver if it's newer (i.e., check and compare the versions).

I first tried the one from Nvidia download site. After installing I find that I cannot run Nvidia-smi. Thus, I uninstalled it and tried the one in ubuntu repository. However, after I run 'nvidia-xconfigue' , I find that I cannot enter desktop anymore.

Based on your description, it sounds like you got further with the one from the NVidia download site? If so, perhaps you should go with that, and then post a new question here about your `nvidia-smi`? In the absence of better advice from someone else, you could also consider trying Ubuntu 21.04 . Then 21.10 later this year and finally LTS next year in April.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
