Will 'Set up this disk as an LVM group' option format my disk?

im flag

Good day. I am installing ubuntu server on my desktop which a HDD plenty of data inside, using ext4 format. I am using bootable USB of Ubuntu server now and I want to keep my whole data in my HDD.

Now I am in my very first setting step with Ubuntu server OS. And think it recommends me to choose 'Use an entire disk' and 'Set up this disk as an LVM group' option in 'Guided storage configuration' step.

Can I choose this option? I mean I don't want to lose my any data.

For your reference, I have 'File system summary' like below.

AVAILABLE DEVICES
DEVICE TYPE SIZE
[ubuntu-vg (new) LVM volume group 3.637T ▶]

USED DEVICES
DEVICE TYPE SIZE
[ubuntu-vg (new) LVM volume group 3.637T ▶]
ubuntu-lv new, to be formatted as ext4, mounted at / 200.000G ▶

[TOSHIBA_HDW(~omit) local disk 3.638T ▶]
partition 1 new, BIOS grup spacer 1.000M
partition 2 new, to be formatted as ext4, mounted at /boot 1.000G ▶
partition 3 new, PV of LVM volume group ubuntu-vg 3.637T ▶

Thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

You of course have made a BACKUP of the data before you even think of trying the install? Whole disk does what it says it WIPES the disk and installs.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
