Based on posts around random websites, it looks like this NVS 300 is known to work in the Dell T320 tower server.
I’ve tried loading the proprietary driver, but get an error 10.
I’ve tried installing various versions from the Nvidia site (340, 470, 490), but they all complain about a rivafb module being loaded, and that dkms didn’t build. The output of lsmod doesn’t show the module as being loaded.
Thinking that perhaps rivafb isn’t a module, but compiled into the kernel, I’m currently compiling the kernel source downloaded from git. I didn’t see any options for rivafb when I configured the kernel.
In the midst of all this, things are devolving, as they sometimes do, and through some apt purging and what not, I have no output from the iDRAC's VGA port, and thus have lost the ability to run the GUI.
The NVS 300 is in the 3rd PCI slot, and shows up in the iDRAC's system inventory. The monitor is connected to connector 1 with a DVI to HDMI cable. I’ve never had video output from it.
I'm currently running in multi-user mode so I can use the CLI for compiling the kernel. I just feel like it will get worse once I try installing the compiled kernel.
Any advice?
Would I be better off dropping back to Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS?
