Restore one file or folder to a different computer with Deja Dup

lu flag

I have a full backup on external HD using Deja Dup on a Ubuntu 20.04 desktop box. I just crashed and would like to restore certain files and folders to my tiny laptop. E.g. /home/joe/Documents/Project1. I would like to restore to a different location such as ~/Documents/restored-from-server. The laptop is Ubuntu 18.04.5.

I am having trouble getting Deja dup to do this.

I click restore. Backup location = 2TB Volume (my external USB drive which contains the backup) Folder = /user/joe/Documents/Project1

I get Restore Failed. No backups to restore.

Actually, I get this error message on every folder, absolute or with ~ convention. The only thing that lets me pass if to leave it empty. And I don't have room to restore the whole thing.

How can I restore one file or folder to a different computer into a different location?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
