Did you do an sudo update and a sudo upgrade before trying to install Wine? You should have.

Well it is not half the system packages. It seems you have a lot of old stuff on your system.

yeah true but its trying to remove totally unrelated stuff like firefox, cuda-toolkit and postgresql and also other things which I suspect will break the system like pulseaudio, gnome stuff and ubuntu-software

Old versions of them?
Sandil Ranasinghe avatar

I think they're the current ones I'm using. Is there a way to check?

Firefox is easy just look at the about or help.

I dont understand. I'm fairly certain I have only one version of firefox installed? Sorry I'm not really that good at this

Please add output of `apt-cache policy wine-stable wine64 wine32 libwine` to the question.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
