Ubuntu 18.04 - Ryzen 4500u Can't use HDMI port or change brightness

cn flag

I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 on my Lenovo Ideapad 5 in Dual boot. It has to be version 18.04 because I need to use ROS on the system. The problem is that I can't connect a new screen or change brightness with the install. I've tried a few solutions where I change kernel version but it breaks the system and gives error message in boot screen

  • My kernel version: is 5.4.0-87-generic
  • Radeon Graphics with AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor

sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-18.04-edge

Update manually to kernel 5.8 without lowlatency files

Any suggestions?

There's ROS for all the current Ubuntu releases.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
