Ubuntu 21.04 usb c not working

I have an issue since last week : none of my usb c ports are working.

What I tried so far :

  • plug in an iphone cable => iphone is not charging
  • plug in an usb c hub with an external monitor => nothing happens

It looks like there isn't any power in the ports....

I have a Thinkpad x1 carbon.

What you describe here seems to be a hardware problem.

Do you have dual boot? Try with Windows.You could also try booting from a live usb.

my latest issue amongst many with USB is when I disconnect one hub, move the laptop, reconnet another hub, it is not recognised and requires a reboot. . but if I run my suspend script it does work, pluggin in after coming back from suspend. the firtst part might give you a hint. echo '1-1' | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind; sleep 1 ; sudo pm-suspend ;sleep 1 ; echo '1-1' | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/bind or try a different brand of hub,
