What happens to GRUB when you install the same version of Ubuntu twice?

cn flag

I installed Ubuntu as dual boot with Windows, thought there was a problem (actually there wasn't) and proceeded to delete the volumes from disk manager without making any changes to the boot loaders. Then I installed Ubuntu again following the same procedure(manual partition, left boot loader device as default).

It works fine now but there's only one entry in the grub menu. When I run sudo efibootmgr also I see only my current Ubuntu install and Windows. So I'm wondering what happened to the boot entry that was made when I installed the first time. Did it get overwritten or something?

If you install in the same boot mode, it overwrites the UEFI entry and the /EFI/ubuntu & /EFI/Boot folders in the ESP. I have multiple installs, want main working install that is LTS as default boot but every new install overwrites my defaults. I have learned to both backup, and how to edit /EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg and use efibootmgr to modify UEFI boot entries. Even some unofficial distributions like MInt still use "ubuntu" as default entry.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
