[I DON'T NEED A ANSWER ANYMORE.. I DELETED MY WINDOWS VOLUME AND IT WORKS TO INSTALL NOW BUT PLEASE READ THE REPLIES]

So I'm installing ubuntu 20.04.3LTS right now off a USB stick i flashed with balena etcher on windows 10. but the installer been hanging for like a hour now.. when I try to quit it doesn't give me the option to quit its just a blank white screen and idk if it's safe to just kill the task im not going to.

So can I reboot or will that mess up my system or what? I can't go back in the installer either to disable the download updates while installing (which seems to cause alot of problems with other people , maybe could be my problem to but I can't go back)

FYI I'm on the installation type page and I'm dual boot windows 10 and ubuntu. Used to have pop os on here now I want to switch to ubuntu, overwriting that pop os drive. It says on the page here "This computer has multiple operating systems on it. What would you like to do?" when I click 'something else' , nothing happens and I don't have the option to go back or to continue. The only option that's not greyed out is quit - in which it doesn't respond its just a white window "Quit the installation?" with nothing else

Can I reboot during an install or will that corrupt some files or etc, as i can't proceed or go back OR QUIT in the installer. Btw, i deleted the pop os partitions

Sounds like you are early enough in the process to just quit the install without problems. I'd suggest running a hashcheck (md5sum) on the downloaded ISO, and if offered, run a media check before trying the install.

I find it hangs if any sort of partition type issue. Did you make sure Windows fast startup is off. Windows turns that back on with updates, so often can be an issue. Does gparted show any issues with partitions? Something Else is correct, and should be the only choice you use.

Dude.. i was looking online for bios command prompt fixes.. and I'm noob to this right... a tutorial prompted me to clean my drive in order to type active... and it cleaned my windows drive entirely no windows os anymore.. But the upside is it now works to install lol. Sucks though,, i lost so many files 1tb worth. Atleast im switched now fully and ubuntu is installed on my internal drive now.. i guess fast startup must have been enabled because i don't think anything else from windows would conflict and now it works..

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
