Is it possible to prevent my Android phone from getting my blank screen stuck?

ph flag

My Story

I have a Pixel 6 with Android 12 and a Samsung with Android 7 and Ubuntu 18.04.

When I setup my Androids to use the USB port as a Developer (or not), so I can access the phone from the Android Studio development environment.

I work, work, work... go to the restroom, come back, my screensaver kicked in. Now my screen is stuck until I turn off the feature on my phone or just disconnect the USB port. It also means I have to turn the feature back on later.

What is happening?

The computer is not accessed for about 5 min. and at that point it decides to blank the screen and also turn off the DPMI (i.e. the monitor is turned off).

When I come back, I hit enter which I expect to get me back to my console. It wakes up the monitor and the screen is black. I see two mouse pointers at that point (one that moves and a "dead" one). I can click with the mouse, hit enter, space bar, whatever key, button, etc. nothing happens...

...until I turn off the Developer mode for the USB on my Android phone and bing! The screen is back to normal and works just fine.

So my question is simple:

Is there something I can do to avoid that issue on Ubuntu?

And if you know, why is done this way?

Note: I have my login name turned off on my blank screen, it's just too annoying and I'm working at home for the most part.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
