Error "This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy of Ubuntu."

I have a Lenovo T430 with Ubuntu on it .

One day, I went to GParted and wiped all the partitions of my only ssd and then I turned the laptop off and on there was a GRUB recovery menu, so I informed myself and tried to fix my Grub. When I tried repairing it and turned my laptop on and off there was the following message This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy of Ubuntu and it wouldn't let me repair or reinstall either Ubuntu or Windows 10 using a USB stick. There is this thing in the BIOS that says "Preinstalled OS license: No PDK ".

Is it even possible to boot from a floppy disk?

Here is some info about my BIOS and such:

  BIOS: G1ETB1WW ( VER .2.71 ) (I tried updating the BIOS too.)
  Machine type PE model: 2351BA8
  Secure Boot: off

>and it wouldnt let me repair or reinstall either of ubuntu or windows 10 using a usb stick < did you run / load the ubuntu or windows installer? In general you need to press a Key prior GRUB is loading. The DEL key or F1, F12, F2 ( this is BIOS dependent and changes from manufacturer to manufacturer)

What exactly did you try? If UEFI Ubuntu live install flash drive you have to correctly create it, not just copy ISO to flash drive. And then select to boot in UEFI mode from UEFI boot menu. see manual for correct key(s). Most find this works: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb or https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Win32DiskImager/iso2usb

If you 'wiped all the partitions' you no longer have an operating system on your pc. Install a new operating system. You cannot fix grub if you have no operating system installed.

thanks oldfred and Organic Marble for the help i tried exactly what you said oldfred yet i had to format my ssd because it apparently had the wrong format for intallling windows since i didnt feel comfortable and was most of the time confused because im not used to ubuntu so i wanted to install windows but had to format so i went and searched for a solution and luckily i found one and it worked perfectly ( the Gparted live iso file thing is what i did ) and then i made it bootable from my usb stick and formated my ssd and when i done that i tried installing windows with the same method

and it worked after the first try ( so i needed to make it bootable two times until it started off normally ) it was a pleasure meeting you amazing people at linux and i think the os really deserves way more users than the dumb mac users yet since i know to use windows and it iis way more clear to know whats installed and so on im gonna stay at this side of the os side

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
