ASUS Xonar AE support?

cn flag

My new system came packaged with a Xonar AE card that surprisingly worked with Ubuntu right out of the box... sort of.

This card has a 7.1 configuration, and I have speakers connected to front, center, and side jacks. The problem is that only the front speakers work. Alsamixer doesn't show any output channels at all with that card selected. Will the center and side channels work at all with this card?

Edit: system specifics - Running Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS; 5.11.0-38-lowlatency kernel; i9-11200 processor with 32G ram.

The question is what I asked. Only the front channels produce sound, and I want to know if I'd be wasting time trying to get any more than that. Xonar AE only seems to be partially supported as far as ALSA goes.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
