I am using the ubuntu base 20.04.3 arm64 to create the rootfs for my embedded Linux board, once I start the board I use sudo apt-get update
and I get:
temporary failure resolving 'ports.ubuntu.com'
so in this post I found that when you have a network issue you could use sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager
, I use it and I get:
ubuntu20043@localhost:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager
debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog
debconf: (No usable dialog-like program is installed, so the dialog based frontend cannot be used. at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Dialog.pm line 76.)
debconf: falling back to frontend: Readline
debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Readline
debconf: (Can't locate Term/ReadLine.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Term::ReadLine module) (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/perl/5.30.0 /usr/local/share/perl/5.30.0 /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/perl5/5.30 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/perl/5.30 /usr/share/perl/5.30 /usr/local/lib/site_perl /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/perl-base) at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Readline.pm line 7.)
debconf: falling back to frontend: Teletype
find: ‘/etc/netplan’: No such file or directory
so it seems that the command does not work, but then I use sudo apt-get update
and works without issues, so, is this the correct way to solve this?, I read the dpkg-reconfigure command documentation and says:
"It will ask configuration questions, much
like when the package was first installed."
but I don´t get any questions and the issue is solved and I dont understand why
