Very good to everyone, I hope they are well, you excuse me for my bad english
I am new to the world of linux and after some problems, I decided to switch to linux, more precisely Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, I have an amd graphics card and an amd processor
I downloaded the drivers from the official amd page and when trying to install the drivers it gives me a problem, and apparently it does not install correctly, and I think that for two reasons, the first is because when trying to put the resolution of the screen to the maximum, the screen goes black and I have to wait a few seconds for the resolution to return to the previous one selected
The second reason is because I have seen in a forum that when you install the drivers correctly, you also install a program like radeon software as in windows, which did not happen to me
I have seen a couple of YouTube videos and I see that in the terminal he writes me something different than the ones I saw on YouTube I attach a photo for you to see and I also write them in case some reason does not load the photo:enter image description here
EFI variables are not supported on this system /sys/firmware/efi/efivars not found, aborting.
Done.
after this install some things from amd.ko and then this comes out which is also different as I explained:
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/amdgpu/yellow_carp_gpu_info.bin for module amdgpu
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/amdgpu/vangogh_gpu_info.bin for module amdgpu
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/amdgpu/navi10_mes.bin for module amdgpu
STEPS THAT I FOLLOWED FOR THE INSTALLATION:
- open terminal and type: cd ~/Descargas
- I wrote this code that I understand that unzips the downloaded file: tar -Jxvf amdgpu-pro-21.30-1290604-ubuntu-20.04.tar.xz
- enter the unzipped archive using: cd ~/Descargas/amdgpu-pro-21.30-1290604-ubuntu-20.04
- install using: ./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=rocr,legacy (I also tried using only amdgpu-pro-install and the problem persists)
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL WHO WANT TO HELP ME <3
