cant create a root directory for ubuntu install (+ sign grayed out)

ru flag

I partitioned a 36GB space on C drive using Disk Mgt for the Ubuntu install. It appeared as unallocated. I started the Ubuntu install from USB. Got to the 5th step. Options shown was to erase disk or something else. Option to install with Windows not shown. On next screen the new partition shows as "unusable" under the "Device" column and the +, - Change and New Partiion Table buttons are grayed out. Only Revert button on same line is not grayed out (what would the do???)

Also at very beginning of install after the check disk is completed a message appears that "error found in 1 file" what can I do about that?

Is this an old BIOS system using MBR partitioning with its 4 primary partition limit? Or did you install Windows in old BIOS mode to newer UEFI system? Post this in your question above: `sudo parted -l`

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
