Shift Keys don't work in Ubuntu Studio

se flag

Both Shift Keys (L and R) don't work in Ubuntu Studio and xev command cannot detect them when pressing the keys.

They weren't working on Windows 7 either, the OS I was using before installing Ubuntu on my old laptop a few days ago.

However, when I pressed shift to get into GRUB menu on start up, the left Shift key did work and got me in GRUB.

Any advice on what could be the problem?

The problem is the keyboard, obviously.

Is it? I have explicitly written that the shift works when booting in the grub menu at startup.

If you have the same problem on multiple operating systems then the hardware is the likely culprit. Try another keyboard and see if the problem persists.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
