How do I make an EFI partition? I am trying to install ubuntu on my sd card, but when i install, ubuntu doesnt detect the efi partition

tr flag

I am using a 128 gb sd card for installation. One of the partitions is 125 gb (ext4) which is where i plan on installing Ubuntu. There is a 1 mb partition that is called "UEFI_NTFS" when I install, it says "No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu."

You need an ESP - efi system partition as FAT32 with boot, esp flags. Larger drives should be 500MB, but smaller drive where you may not have multiple installs or SystemD boot can use 100MB, maybe less. And you have to define a / (root) partition as ext4. UEFI/gpt partitioning in Advance, new versions use swap file so swap partition optional: http://askubuntu.com/questions/743095/how-to-prepare-a-disk-on-an-efi-based-pc-for-ubuntu Using Something Else, choose partitions, format & use. Note issues with grub always installing to internal drive.

Or you can just delete all partitions (format the disk) and let the installer create partitions for you. This is the preferred option if you are new to Ubuntu or if you're uncertain or having trouble with manual partitioning.

If UEFI install, Ubuntu's Ubiquity will want to install grub2's UEFI boot files to an ESP on first drive, usually an internal drive. It will not automatically put ESP partition on any other drive. Are you sure your system boots from SD cards? Some do & some do not. Or put SD in USB adapter. Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
