Move a Ubuntu data disk to a new Ubuntu computer

cn flag

I have a data only internal hdd formatted ext4 in a Ubuntu 18.04 desktop. How do I take it out of that machine and permanently mount it, sata not usb, with full read/write access in a different Ubuntu 20.04 machine?

When I Google I see answers for moving a Linux install hdd, or how to access the drive from Windows.

How did you try to mount? Is this a desktop or a server?

Read `man mount`. You can specify `UID` and `GID` on NTFS mounts. [Edit] your Question and show us the `/etc/fstab` and `/etc/mtab` entries. Read `man fstab mtab`.

It is on a Ubuntu desktop that I use for a Plex server. I mounted it via terminal commands makedir and then editing the fstab file then restarted, it acts like it is mounted but when I try to access it by double clicking on the folder /Plex3 which shows up in the gui I get an error, but I can view everything through the network share that I did not add on this new machine.

I can edit and post the bash history and fstab file, when I get home from work. I have another hdd that I had data on, but did not need. I re formatted it to NTFS through this Ubuntu install and mounted it as /Plex4 and used the same process of mounting and editing the fstab file and shared it via samba, worked fine. It must have to do with the fact that this NTFS partition was formatted and used in another Ubuntu install and "owned" by that system. It like it is in use by that system, I don't know how to change "ownership" to this new system without reformatting in the new system.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
