Desktop Widget Creation

pt flag

am trying to write an application (gnome extension) that will function as a desktop widget (think Android Widget), always showing only on the desktop (not a typical application instance, no minimize, no maximize, no close, etc.) for Ubuntu 20.04. An example of something that behaves how I would like to write my app is conky, writing over the desktop and staying on behind other windows. I looked through GNOME extensions site but could not find anything there whose code I could glean the information I need from it. I have spent much of the day looking around for solutions and have learned a lot, but have not found what I am looking for. I've been reading the GTK docs to find information on how to create and couldn't find anything. I also read through some of the conky source code but didn't want to search through everything, and I am much more comfortable with javascript than c++.

If anyone can point me in the right direction to find resources for this or code that produces this behavior (preferably using javascript and GTK), that would be fantastic! Thanks so much.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
