Downloading & installing wavlink USB 3.0 Dual 2K Universal Docking Station on Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS

I am a first-time user of both Ubuntu and Linux. I'm trying to install two large monitors which I used when operating on Windows. I just bought a wavlink USB 3.0 Dual 2K Universal Docking Station, but their website doesn't have any drivers for Linux and when I follow the links in some of the threads which, when followed takes you to the DisplayLink website but there are no drivers for Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS.

I have downloaded Driver 5.2.14 and that's where it stops! I have no idea on how to install unzip & install the driver(s).

I have tried the sudo apt-get upgrade command, followed by sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, then sudo apt-get install dkms, and finally sudo ./displaylink-driver-5.4.0-55.174.run, and sudo ./displaylink-driver-5.2.14.run and I keep getting the error message Command not found.

I also seem to be getting an error every time the OS wants to update:

E: The repository 'cdrom://Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS _Bionic Beaver_ - Release amd64 (20200806.1) bionic Release' does not have a Release file.

I obviously doing something inherently wrong. How can I fix this and get my docking station working?

Don't just run commands without knowing what they do. Please [edit] your question to al link to the driver and the docking station's website. Also, you mention you are a first-time user of Ubuntu. If this is your first installation of Ubuntu, and you haven't done much, consider [installing either 20.04 LTS or 21.10](https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop), both of which are more recent and will work better.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
