Black Screen with only mouse after login (Ubuntu 20.04)

tn flag

Yesterday I suspended my ubuntu (20.04) laptop and when I turned it back on, things were really buggy so i logged into tty and shut it down. When I turned it back on again, I got a black screen with only my mouse on it after login. tty still works and i can access all my files but the GUI doesn't. I then created a test account which i logged into and everything worked perfectly fine.

I am on a dual boot setup on a Windows 10 Laptop. It has both Nvidia and Intel Graphics.

I have tried without success:

  • rebooting several times
  • reinstalling nvidia drivers
  • switching between lightdm and gdm
  • reinstalling gnome-session and ubuntu-desktop
  • disabling gnome extensions
  • startx command

Any help is really appreciated.

EDIT: I fixed the issue by deleting the gnome-shell extensions folder

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
