Combo headphone/microphone splitter does not work on Ubuntu 20.04, individually plugging in headphone or microphone does

bn flag

So I can plug either my external lavalier microphone Boya By M1 or my headphones directly into my Dell G7 7588 laptop's single 3.5mm jack, and they both work.

I purchased this microphone and headset combo jack which splits the single 3.5mm jack on my computer into a headset output and a microphone input. Sometime ago it was working fine, but now I cannot get the microphone to work through it. Note: the mic is recognized, but no sound is captured.

Based on research I've tried adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf but without success:

options snd-hda-intel model=,dell-headset-multi

Any hint?

Thanks.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
