No user shows up in login screen

us flag

When I get to the login screen, it appears as normal, except no user is selectable and the ubuntu logo on the bottom of the screen is missing as well. When I restart the machine several times, my user shows up eventually.

While I have found information about other problems with the login screen (Login not working, Login Loop) but nothing like my problem.

If it works after several reboots I suspect you might have a failing hard drive. Or maybe a crupted file system?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
