Transfer Files - Replacing Mac OSX with UBuntu

cn flag

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2014 with an operating system that I can no longer upgrade which makes it a pain to use. I've been using a USB to test out Ubuntu and feel I'm ready to replace my OSX with Ubuntu. My question is, I was planning on transferring my files using an external hard drive. Is there a particular format that I need to use when saving files to the external hard drive so that I don't have issues when adding them to my laptop once I've replaced OSX with Ubuntu 21.10?

I've honestly been putting off taking the plunge because I worry about unforeseen issues. I'm also not that tech savvy so I doubt I could troubleshoot issues on my own. Any insight is appreciated!

A trio of questions: (1) How much data are you planning on migrating? (2) Will you continue to use the external device as the main storage location for that migrated data? (3) How have you been using Ubuntu on the Mac up to now?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
