Desktop in Window Switcher

jo flag

In the past, by default, Ubuntu included the Desktop in the Window Switcher. Now, (Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS), does not offer the Desktop in the Window Switcher. How do I get this small, but very important feature, back?

Unfortunately, you can't, unless a Gnome Shell extension providing the feature would exist. I am not aware of any, though.

Alternatives to quickly hide all windows are

  • to hit Ctrl+Super+D

  • to install the Gnome Shell extension Show Desktop Button by JSZVB, which places an icon in the topbar.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
