My USB drive with a load of big video files is filling the Ubuntu syslog with smartd messages every 30 minutes - this has been going on for at least a month.
However the drive operates fine, allowing me to write new video files and play back existing ones without a hitch.
This is the log:

The second log entry appears only about 50% as much as the 'unreadable' entry. How can the temperature be so high? It doesn't feel hot to touch. A bit warm but not hot.
Can I do anything to get rid of the 'unreadable' warning / error?
