Installing a fully encrypted non-LVM Ubuntu Server manually (the live installer)

in flag

Ubuntu server's "Legacy installer" had the option of installing the system directly on an luks-encrypted root partition without having to use LVM. I've had being used that for many years but now the legacy installer is discontinued and I see no option to do the same thing in the new "Live installer" which is the only option.

Please note that I'm happy to prepare my target root partition in another terminal using cryptsetup and mkfs commands. But the dumb installer can not detect my prepared partition. It apparently does not scan the mapped devices in /dev/mapper. Any helps/experiences would be appreciated.

Update:

I ended up installing an un-encrypted system and then go the backup-encrypt-restore road in a live environment. As suggested in https://www.jamesridgway.co.uk/encrypting-a-dedicated-server-ubuntu/.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
