Trying to do a release upgrade on a dual-boot system, fails due to /boot/efi not being mounted

US flag

I have a system that is dual-booting Zorin OS 16.2 and Ubuntu Studio 22.04 LTS. I read news that 22.10 has official pipewire support upcoming, so I decided to do a release upgrade to that version. As my main installation, I'd like for Zorin OS to be managing the bootloader so there's no conflicts, which is why I didn't (and won't) mount my ESP on my Ubuntu Studio installation. When attempting to do a release upgrade, I got this error:

EFI System Partition (ESP) not usable

Your EFI System Partition (ESP) is not mounted at /boot/efi. Please
ensure that it is properly configured and try again.

Restoring original system state

I'm well aware that other people in my situation have faced this issue, and the solution was to mount the bootloader. If there's a way to do that while also preventing Ubuntu Studio from making any changes, I'm all for it. But otherwise, I'd like to know if there's a workaround for systems like mine.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
