Monitor switcher keeps popping up when connected to external monitor

pk flag

Whenever I connect to an external monitor the monitor switcher (normally activated by super + P) window appears and cycles through, highlighting each option (Mirror/Join/External/Built-in) one at a time. If I select an option or click away it disappears for a second and then reappears and cycles through the options. It never goes away unless I disconnect my monitor. How can I disable this?

I tried clearing my cache with

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean

and

echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

I also deleted ~/.config/monitors.xml

None of these worked.

I am running Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
