Launching certain command/script when connecting to Linux desktop via RDP

cn flag

I need certain Bash command and Bash script to be executed automatically when the X-server is starting (the OS is Lubuntu 20.04). The problem stems from the fact I never sit at this computer, but log-in to it via XRDP in stead. This Archlinux article recommends to include the commands/scripts to be executed when initiating X-server via XRDP into one of the following files (in order of preference):

  1. ~/.xinitrc
  2. /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
  3. /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh

I tried all three variants. None has worked. Should I run them manually after the RDP connection has been established, the command and the script work nicely, so it is not them. Any suggestions on what else can be tried?

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
