Adding Online Account crashes with Wayland, Ubuntu 22.04

ng flag

Specs

Ubuntu 22.04 with all latest updates via sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade.

Problem

  1. Open Settings -> Online Accounts
  2. Click on Google enter image description here
  3. Pop-up appears, supposed to show web-view with user authentication, instead, pop-up is empty, does not show web-view at all: enter image description here
  4. Pop-up and Settings disappear after 1-2 seconds.
  5. If I switch off Wayland (log in using Ubuntu instead of Ubuntu with Wayland), Pop-up will load web-view of the Google user authentication.

Why not just switching off Wayland?

On my laptop, Wayland updates/animates system UI much smoother than normal Ubuntu (screen is 2.8k res). Feels like 90fps with Wayland compared to maybe 30fps without Wayland. Very visible when switching spaces. Hence I'd like to keep using it.

However, if I log in without Wayland, for whatever reason my credentials for both Ubuntu Single Sign-On and Google cannot be stored in my keychain, thus keeps me logged off when not on Wayland. Maybe this is a separate issue, or maybe related to the one above. Not sure.

Anyone found a fix for Wayland to have web-view in this pop-up work as expected?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
