Suspend/Hibernate issues on Macbook 10,1 (2017 12 inch)

US flag

Not new to Ubuntu, but not an expert either. I recently acquired a 12 inch Macbook Mid-2017 model A1534 and decided I wanted Ubuntu 22.04 on it.

I decided to try and dual boot with MacOS and didn't have too much of an issue partitioning and installing it. Everything pretty much works perfectly up until I close the lid.

Once I open the lid it seems to slowly crash on me. Things take forever to load (if they ever do), icons turn to white boxes, and sometimes I can't even log in.

The issue is present both with or without rEFInd. Not sure if this is an problem with hibernation/suspend or if there's some incompatibility with the Apple SSD. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
