RDP into Ubuntu 22.04 install via Windows 10 MSTSC works. via MRemoteNG does not

Fresh install of 22.04 updated and then via the Sharing under settings i've enabled Remote Desktop and changed the password to match my logon password.

Connecting via Remote Desktop Connection app works as expected. However trying to connect with mRemoteNG (v 1.76.20.24615) present a logon dialog, but errors out with the following message:

----------
WarningMsg
12/15/2022 13:43:06
RDP disconnected!
3334 Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again.

I don't understand the difference between the native windows client and the mRemoteNG version. I've tried changing various settings in the Config on mRemoteNG with no improvement in symptoms.

Any suggestions?

I would perhaps suggest superuser.com for this, as the question is not about Ubuntu, but rather how a Windows client connects to some service offered by a Ubuntu machine.

Good point. I'll post it there

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
