I just saved another piece of totally fine hardware from beeing thrown away. Im very happy how Ubuntu supports all features (including keyboardlight). But I am stuck with one issue:
If I leave the grub as is, when I power up the system the login screen will be only black (I can only see the mouse move). I allready know, that I can use >Enter > Type Password > Enter to login. The first time Ubuntu then thinks I have two identical screens the one I actually have not beeing the primary one. So I have to pull up Settings and change the display settings to duplicate the screen. After this everything works great except the Login screen issue. The laptop also suspends when I close the screen and when I open it, it wakes up and the login screen shows. So basically it is only an issue when I power up the system from beeing shut down. Plus it does not look nice, that Ubuntu thinks I have two screens in the settings.
I have seen some people using nomodeset in the grub file (after quite splash) to fix this issue. I have tried it myself and it actually works. Login-Screen shows when powering up the System and the "second" screen is gone. BUT: the system looses the ability to suspend when closing the lid. Even worse, when I manually suspend through the power Menu the system does not properly wake up. I kind of powers up, but the screen never switches on.
Since the Macbook wont be Shut down that often anyways and will probably just be suspended by closing the lid, I decided for now to not use the "nomodeset".
But I think there must be a way to get everything working properly at once? Any suggestestions are apreciated.
Additional information:
Im using Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
Model Number on MacBook Pro is A1286
I do not fully understand what nomodeset does TBH
